Dare To Be Different

Before I blab on about daring to be different I feel I have to mention this- think of your circle of friends? Do you have a friend whith whom the relationship just flows so easily? I have a couple, one of which I have spent tonight with and it's been lovely. Just sitting back, relaxing and having a laugh, and it's so easy, nothings forced or pretended we just are! If you have a friend like this, consider yourself lucky, it's nice to be accepted wholly for being you by somebody and instead of treading the water as it sometimes seems when you're with people, it's nice to be able to just float.

Daring To Be Different.
Here's a cliche- We're all sheep :) We all follow, we are are ruled by a society which dictates all social norms and how we should and shouldn't behave and who we should and shouldn't be. But here's the thing- have you ever dared to be different? Have you ever dared to rock the boat?

All just carbon copies....
We all seem to be carbon copies of a certain ideology, and to an extent it saddens me. Ask yourself this, what would happen if you dared to be different? Would the world end? No. Would anyone die? No. So what's stopping you?

I'm a black sheep...
If we all have to be sheep- fine. I get it, physically I'm no different. If you saw me in the street you'd look at me and think "Sure, she's just another nobody kid doing what all the other nobody kids do. She's not particularly well known, not an "IT" girl, just average and ordinary" But look a bit deeper than that for me, just for a second. You'll see, I'm the black sheep. I don't follow the crowd because I don't care fot the bitchiness that comes with following these popular ideals. I don't like how people bitch and backstab and double cross and if that is the way society runs then I am glad to not be a part of the "normal" society. I've said before and I'll say it again, as long as someone is nice to me and to others, I don't care where they come from or what they like or who they are, I'll like them for being able to be nice. Everyone is capable of compassion, some just lack the healthy amount of self exspression for it. If you look closely at me you'll see the following things:-

1) I am the girl who will wear odd socks to make a statement. It's small time rebellion I realise, but if the social norm dictates that we wear matching socks, then I will wear odd socks and be proud of it- Who am I harming?
2) I'm the one who will blast ACDC out of my ipod one minute, and then listen to Cathrine Jenkins the next- If you stick to one genre you miss out on a whole host of things, and we arent on earth long enough to miss out on things.
3) I'm the girl that will happily stop to help the people who society have classed as the "underdogs", I don't care why they're in that situation, that isn't the issue, the issue is that they are people all the same and every human life is special and worth the time it takes to save.
4) I like things that people at my age aren't freely willing to admit that they like- I like ceebeebies, charlie and lola and In the night garden etc, I also have a bit of a love fo Icarly and High School Musical, and I don't care, again I'm not harming anybody in liking these things, and I don't really care about anyone who's petty enough to take the piss- taking the mick shows the immaturity in my eyes, not my watching of these things :P
5) I spend a lot of my time writing, reading, singing, painting and drawing and maybe not enough time socialising. I watch people and study how they behave, particularly I am interested in how they behave towards others, but I don't always find myself willing to interact with them. This, though classed probably as socially inappropriate, is my perogative, I harm no-one in doing this, so they should just leave me to it.

A Little Anecdote...
I had an appointment with a lovely lady today and as she was talking to me I became rather fascinated with a dolls house in the corner of the room. Still listening, I wandered over to the dolls house and started to rearrange the furniture, position the dolls in different places. The lady I was with watched me in bewilderment for a while, until I told her that the house needed a dog, at which point she walked to the other end of the room and returned with two boxes where we both proceeded to rummage around for a dog, which was eventually found and placed in the house. The reason I mention this is that, while the lady I was with is well aware of my age, as am I, instead of being skeptical about my playing with the dolls in the dolls house, she actually almost encouraged it. I'm a child at heart really, in many ways I think we all are. The lady I was with then turned around and told me that next time we'd have to have some more toys! I loved her for saying that, for accepting my childish streak instead of ridiculing like so many would have done.

...................
Don't get me wrong, I like all the mature and my own age things too. I love shopping, I spend most of my life on the laptop, intelectually I'm average, I do my hair every day and my nails are painted. I wear rather too many bracelets (between 20 and 30 on a normal day) but I don't harm anyone and am no threat. I am different from "normal" people, but then everything about me scientifically is also different, so why should I change myself for anyone else?

Remember, you're amazing. It doesn't matter if you watch ICarly or High School Musical or play with dolls houses. It doesn't matter if you aren't what society considers "normal". Take that as a compliment, well done, it means your true to yourself and are yourself and you should be proud for that. You're unique and special, why want to be anyone else? As the lady I was with earlier proved, even when you do the daftest and insanest of things, you're still accepted as long as you aren't harming anyone. Remember that people do not judge you as such, they judge your actions, so if your actions are good hearted then all they can judge is good.

And of course darlings:-

Keep Smiling :)

Good From Bad, Love and Relaxing

It's the holidays :) The exams are done :) Perfect time to just chill out a bit :)

Have you ever made pictures from the clouds? I'm being serious here and I'm not drugged up or anything, serious question, have you ever lay back on the grass and made pictures with the clouds in the sky? It's wonderful. It's really relaxing, there's nothing to worry you, just you and the big old sky :)

And looking up at the sky is a big reminder of something else, the sky is huge and we are incredibly small. That to some might be a scary prospect, but something is only scary if you make it so. To me, it's a very comforting prospect, it makes me remember that the world goes beyond my problems, and it's bigger than me and can harbour so many more problems than I ever thought possible. It reminds me, that there is always somebody who's dilemas and problems are worse than my own, and that I am in fact one of the luckiest girls in the world, I need only remember that fact in times of hardship.

And the beauty of having other people in times of trouble, is that we are able to help them. Woe and hardship builds character. It helps people realise what they have, and while I'm not saying for a second that it is good that people have to go through hard times, I'm saying that good things can always come from bad situations.

In "Love Actually" Hugh Grant says a line, which probably wont have been considered by many people when thinking about its reference, but all the same is probably very true. He says, "When the planes hit the twin towers as far as I know none of the messeges from the people on board were of hate or revenge, they were messeges of love" We show our true colours in a crisis. When there is nothing left, we give the only thing that has always been and will always be, we give love. In the middle of a crisis, we have no time for hatred, no time for anger, we stick to the people we love like glue, and make sure they know we love them, we show them our true selves, and when it all gets better again, like 9 times out of 10 it does, they know how we truly feel, so something good has come from something bad.

Remember you're amazing :D Now go put your feet up and relax!

Keep Smiling :)

Thoughts That Win (Mind Over Matter)

So, you're sitting there staring at an exam paper thinking "There is no way that I can do this", right? Do you realise that by thinking this you are actually really hindering your chances of doing well?

The art of positive thinking in todays climate is quite hard admittedly. There's so much to be pessimistic about that even despite my optimism I am not to blind to not notice. But according to actual research, those who convince themselves that they cannot do a certain thing, generally fail, and those who manage to keep some confidence up and see the challenge for what it really is, tend to be able to pull it off.

I'm not going to go into too much detail, I think even without having ANY sort of knowledge for psychology etc that would probably seem sort of self explanetary anyway, hpwever if you fancy reading more about this then this is a good article- http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/releases/226536.php

Just thought I'd quickly mention about this though, just to remind you that positive thinking is more important than it might seem at first and it really does influence things- there's evidence for it too! Keep those positive thoughts going :)

La Musica :)

I'm the type of girl who loves the contemporary and mainstream, I love Rhianna, I adore Katy Perry, Olly Murs, Jessie J, Tinie Tempah and Eminem. Seriously, most of these kinds of artist's songs make me happy, they make me smile and the make me think, some can make me cry.

But I also love all other genres of music. Depending on what mood I'm in, I can listen to anything and everything. Just recently, my new fascination has been with classical music.

Obviously there is the well known classical pieces (Moonlight sonata, clair de lune etc), but if you're looking for something really relaxing and nice, something to chill you out for a while, Ludovico Einaudi really fits the bill :) His music is beautiful, he seems to be able to take any form of human emotion, and replicate it in his compositions, and it's literally like a breath of fresh air to listen to.

Most people stick to one genre of music, they know which genre seems to suit them, and, afraid of change, they stick to it. The danger of doing this is that they miss out on all of the other beautiful music they could be listening to. Try something different, you might be surprised :)

And, as always:

Evening :)

Hiiii darlings :)
How has today been for everyone?

Now here's a reason to smile if any- today it was forecast rain, I looked outside at the grey clouds and on faith and hope and faith and hope alone I put on a summer dress in the hope that it might make the sun shine out, and it did :) :) :)

The sun shone beatifully today, and I went to my singing lesson happy about the sun, and my singing lesson was fantastic and, as per usual, I left feeling amazing because my wonderful singing teacher kind of likes to big you up during his lessons, and then we had chocolate cake in choir (and you cant beat chocolate cake) and I've seen family today and had a laugh :)

It's all fine :) everything's fine, and if it rains this weekend remember this- the flowers will bloom the brighter because of the rain, and the ducks and frogs like the wet weather even if we dont. :) Go out in the rain and dance, ever felt it on your skin? And I mean properly felt it, not thought that you wish you were dry, felt it and apprecite it for what it is, we couldnt live without it, or are you personally going to go and water all of the plants on the planet that need the water? Go out and apprecite it, feel it on your skin, and love it.

And remember darlings,
Keep Smiling :)

Just An Ickle Bit :)

Firstly have we all seen Pirates of the Caribbean on Stranger Tides, yes? Go see it, its amazing, i went earlier :D

Sooo exams are done and dusted, the ducks had nice weather today even if we didn't, I had a lovely night last night with friends and a fab night tonight with the girls and pirates (can't beat a bit of Johnny Depp on a thursday night, well any night really....) Got a singing lesson and choir tomorrow which I always look forward to greatly, and I'm going to see my family :) can't beat that for a friday :D

Whatever everyones doing this weekend, make sure you enjoy it, remember that all the depressing stuff you see on the news is biased, they dont post the good and beautiful stories as they get more response from the bad ones- they're in it for the money, there's more good out there than there is bad, its just that the good wont sell papers and get ratings.

And remember that youre beautiful, and amazing and wonderful and a survivor.

But mostly remember this-

Keep smiling :)

A Question To Ask Yourself (Butterflies)

As another wonderful day draws to another peaceful close, I will leave with one last thought.

A last thought:
Imagine you are a butterfly. A butterfly with wings scarecly bigger in width than that of a sheet of paper, but beautifully coloured and bright and happy. Outside it is an incredibly windy day, the leaves flutter about as though in tornados, and instead of whispering to each other the trees give the impression of shouting at each other. There are two types of butterfly.

Two Types of Butterfly
Type one- Will look at the leaves flying around and hear the wind and become scared and fearful, and find somewhere sheltered to hide until the wind settles down and stay there safely.
Type Two- Will look around at her friends with the excitement building, take a deep breath and fly out into the wind. She will laugh as it takes her higher and flying around in circles. She will enjoy every second of it as it rushes over her wings. She wont try to flap her wings to fight it, she will just go with it, knowing that whatever happens she will still be okay.

My question to you.
My question to you is this, which type of butterfly are you? Are you scared of life, or are you willing to jump and go for it without fully knowing the consequences? Do you know, we are not scared of heights, we are scared of falling and even then, it's only because we're scared of getting hurt when we hit the floor, but consider this- what if we didn't hit the floor? What if we were caught? What if, per chance, we should land on a tampoline in someones back garden? Or in the deep blue ocean, with a boat near by to rescue us when we surface? And what if, when we stand back up again, we realise that the fall was one of the most exciting experiences we'd ever had in life, and we'd give anything just to do it again? You never know, take the chance, take the risk, it might just be the thing that makes your life perfect.

And of course darlings- Keep Smiling :)

The Movies Say Some Inspirational Things.......

I'm quite a big movie fan :) I love some of the quotes, here's some to make you smile and think :)

1) The Lord of The Rings- Sam- "And sometimes you didn't want to know the end because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass, a new day will come. And when the sun shines, it will shine out the clearer.....Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn't. They kept going. Because they were holding onto something."
2) The Lord of The Rings- Aragorn- "There will come a time when the strength of men shall fail. But it is not this day."
3) Alice In Wonderland- Alice- "Sometimes I believe in as many as six impossible things before breakfast."
4) Alice In Wonderland- The Mad Hatter- "Have I gone mad?" Alice- "I'm afraid so, you're entirely bonkers. But I'll tell you a secret, all the best people are."
5) Alice In Wonderland- The Mad Hatter- "You used to be much more...muchier. You've lost your muchness!"
6) Alice in Wonderland (again)- Charles Kingsleigh- "Gentlemen, the only way to achieve the impossible, is to believe its possible".

I think Harry Potter should get its own section as there's so many i could put :p
1) Harry Potter and the Philosiphers Stone- Ablus Dumbledore- "It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live."
2) Harry Potter and the Philopsiphers Stone- Albus Dumbledore- "It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, just as much to stand up to our friends."
3) Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets- Albus Dumbledore- "It is our choices that show what we really are, far more than our abilities"
4) Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Askaban- Albus Dumbledore- "Happiness can be found at the darkest of times. If one only remembers to turn on the light."
5) Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire- Sirius Black- "If you want to know what a man's like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals."
6) Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire- Albus Dumbledore- "Understanding is the first step to acceptance, and only with acceptance can there be recovery."
7) Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire- Albus Dumbledore- "Difference of habit and language are nothing at all if our aims are identical and our hearts are open"
8) Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince- Albus Dumbledore- "We must try not to sink beneath our anguish Harry, but battle on."
9) Luna Lovegood (not sure which book off the top of my head)- "They are not dead, they are just out of sight" (Think it maybe the order of the pheonix but dont take my word for it :) )
10) Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix- Sirius Black- "We all have light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on. That's who we really are".
11) Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows- "we're all human aren't we? Every human life is worth the same, and worth saving".

I think thats enough for now, but one last thing, if you ever doubt anything, if you ever feel like doubting the existence of yourself or the existence of others, remember quote number 11 from Harry Potter, i know its from a fairytale, but there is so much truth in those 15 words its unreal- we're all human, every human life is worth the same and worth saving. And if you can do nothing else, then don't doubt that.

Keep smiling guys :)

That Contented Feeling......

Content :)

A dictionary definition of content:
Content- Desiring No More Than What One Has: Satisfied :)

What on earth am i mentioning that for?
This morning I've woken up late (though not in college so I had nothing to wake up for :) ) I've been and had toast and coffee, had a couple of cheery conversations, watched about 5 minutes of television, and now I'm back with my blankets, duvet, pillows and teddies doing what I do best-writing :) And content is a fabulous word for how I feel at the moment, I'm still in my PJs and I dont need anything else than what I'm here sat with, my laptop and blankets etc.

At one point in your day......
At one point in your day (and believe me I realise that this is difficult some days) but just aim to feel content about something. Even if you don't feel content about everything in your life (despite my optimism I know I dont!) just aim to feel content about something in your day. Contentedness is a lovely feeling, it's calming and peaceful, the feeling you get when you're lying on a beach in the sun and you close your eyes and all you can hear is the sound of the waves crashing and coming in and out and you feel like at that moment, you don't have any worries, it's all here and now and everything in the past means nothing, and the future is too far away for you to worry about. Try to feel content about something today :)

Keep smiling lovelys :)

Something To Remember

No matter who you are, and where you're reading from, the same applies- you just have to remember what i say:-

1) You are a perfect imperfection. You may not be perfect for everybody, but you can only be you and so you're perfect for you, and because humans are generally this way inclined- they'll accept you for that.
2) You're a survivor. Every time you get to the end of another day, no matter how hard or stressful or tiring that day might have been, remember that you're still here, youve made it and youve survived.
3) You're amazing. Just for being you you're amazing, and if anyone says anything different, it's fine- you can ignore them and rise above it- because youre amazing like that ;)
4) You're beautiful. I'm not talking about physical appearences, they mean nothing, I'm talking about inside, you're beautiful and you remember that as you go about your day, you remember that if ever you need a confidence boost- you're beautiful.
5) You're the best you can be. If you can get to the end of a day, and think about it and think about how many people you helped, how many people you made smile, what you managed to accomplish, and then sit back and for even a second be proud of yourself for what youve done, then you're doing the best you can and you're being the best you can be and nobody can complain at you for that.

Tutti Frutti

Tutti-Frutti.
Generally I'm not a massive alcohol fan. (though Baileys in coffee at christmas and the occaisinal glass of Lambrini is nice) But on trying Tutti-Frutti I loved everything about it. I like the name, its quirky and happy and it rhymes. I like the colour of the drink- its bright and happy and reminds me of summer :D
Ingredients:-
1 Shot of Tequila :)
1 Shot of Passion Fruit Liqueur
1 Shot Melon Liqueur
3 Shots Cranberry Juice ( though i had it with orange juice).
Taste :)
Its sweet. It tastes like summer. Like sun, like glitter, like magic. Its sugary and i suppose you could call it skittles in a glass :D Like everything else in the world, its a beautiful drink :) Have you ever had popping candy? Its like popping candy, and skittles, and sherbert and tropical fruits from all the 4 corners of the earth rolled into one. It reminds me of beaches and sand and swimming pools. It reminds me of long carefree days sunbathing, and shopping and laughing with friends. It reminds me of getting the giggles and not being able to stop, and of watching the sun set on those long summer nights, not wanting to be anywhere else but there.   Funny what a tutti-frutti can do isnt it?

Keep smiling darlings :)

Music

To many in my GCSE music class (including me) nearly 2 years ago now, the phrase "music makes the world go round" was one we all agreed with. Music does make the world go round. Music is magic, it can make you feel every possible emotions, just from words and bars and pitch and tone, its amazing. Anyway, its nearly summer, so i thought id compile a list of feel good songs, it doesnt even have to be summer, just songs to give you a bit of a lift :D

1) R Kelly- Worlds Greatest. "im that star up in the sky, im that moutain peak up high, yeah i made it, im the worlds greatest".
2) Owl City- Hot Air Balloon- "i'll be out of my mind, and youll be out of ideas pretty soon so lets spend the afternoon in a cold hot air balloon"
3) Kid Rock- All Summer Long- "we were trying different things, we were smoking funny things, making love out by the lake to our favourite song, drinking whisky out the bottle, not thinking 'bout tomorrow singing sweet home alabama all summer long".
4) The Beatles- Here Comes The Sun- "Little darling, its been a long cold lonely winter, little darling, it feels like years since its been here, here comes the sun do do do do, here comes the sun and i say, its alright"
5) Bryan Adams- Summer of '69- "when i look back now, the summer seemed to last forever, and if i had the choice, yeah id always wanna be there, those were the best days of my life"
6) The Baha Men- Best Years Of Our Lives- "I get such a thrill when i look in your eyes, my heart skips a beat girl i feel so alive, please tell me baby if all this is true, cuz deep down inside all i wanted was you"
7) Honey- I Believe- "I believe i can, i believe i will, i believe i know my dreams are real, i believe i'll chant, i believe i'll dance, i believe i'll grow real soon and that is why i do believe"
8) Red Jumpsuit Apparatus- Your Guardian Angel- "I will never let you fall, I'll stand up with you forever, i'll be there for you through it all, even if saving you sends me to heaven"
9) Rascal Flatts- Life Is A Highway-"If life is a highway, I wanna ride it all night long, if youre going my way, then i wanna ride it all night long"
10) K'naan- Wavin' Flag- "Give me freedom, give me fire. give me reason, take me higher, see the champions, take the field now, you the fighters make us feel proud, en las calles, muchas manos, levantadas, celebrando, una fiesta sin descanso, los paieses como hermanos"

This is just a few, theres loads more, but i should be revising :) so im going to go, i'll post more later.

keep it smiling :)

Schindlers List

Schindlers List
For those who havent seen this film, it is revolved around the holocaust. Its completely black and white apart from one little girls red coat, this becomes prominent later as we see the red coat amongst dead bodies. Oscar Schindler is a member of the Nazi party, yet he saves thousands and thousands of Jews lives by bringing them from concentration camps to work at his factory, where he will not permit any soldier to kill them, nor will he treat them badly himself. He loses all of his money helping these people, and yet still believes he should have done more.

Why am i mentioning this?
Im mentioning this because again, I'm looking at human nature. We can sit and look at the holocaust and (rightly so) think that these people who ran the camps, and Hitler, had no compassion, no hearts and were totally and utterly out of their minds. There is never any reason or exscuse to kill one person, so 6 million is a monstrosity. This shows human natures bad side, Hitlers guards and soldiers who followed his commands, were probably doing so out of fear and conformity, and also they had been taught to hate, not that i condone their actions at all, their actions were unforgiveable and i even find it realy hard to understand why, i dont think anyone could ever really understand why. But at the same time, you had people like Oscar Schindler. People who gave up everything and risked their lives, to fight agaisnt such awful injustice. And this to me, shows a wonderful side to human behaviour and nature, how anyone can be so selfless and fight against the common ideologies of the time in order to follow conscience and help people, and still not believe he had done enough. This is beautiful, if everyone in life could try at least to even have a fraction of Oscar Schindlers compassion towards people, im fairly sure the world would be in a much happier and nicer state than it is now. I guess in a way, i like the marxist ways of living life. Everything completely equal and everyone helping everyone else. (though i think the freedom of speech would be infringed and this too wouldnt be good) but if no-one was at the top, we couldnt have dictators like Hitler. Though i also realise that it is in human nature, to want to better ourselves, to want to be at the top, and when this overrides the need to help others along the way, thats when the disasters happen. We cant life completely self centerdly. though im aware that nobody can be truly completely altruistic, we need to show some altruism, and Oscar Schindler showed this against all odds, and i take hope from that.

Keep smiling :)

Its Okay- Reasons To Be Cheerful :)

Ever noticed how many people today have taken to being so pessimistic about things? Heres some reasons to be cheerful.

Think of this:
Somewhere, thousands and thousands of miles away, stands a single person leaning against the biggest wall ever (bigger by far than the wall of china!). This wall is indestructable, it will not fall down no matter what hits it or how hard the storms try to weather against it. There is a person standing next to this person, leaning against him. And next to him, another person leans. There is a huge line of people, billions strong, leaning against each other. And though we're all leaning sideways, its okay, because leaning though we may be we're still on our feet and not on the ground. And it anybody falls, the people next to them are on hand in seconds to pick him up. Im speaking now of the beauty of human nature, it is not all bad, the majority of people will help, and we all lean on each other to get through.

There are guardian angels out there:
Consider your friends, consider your family. Even consider those complete strangers on the street. theyre all guardian angels. Theyll watch, theyll protect, no matter how lonely you feel, someone out there will make you not lonely. The human race are not meant to be lonely, we are sociable creatures, we look to others to inform our decisions, to laugh with, to cry with, to look after each other. Even though there are huge stigmas attached to certain conditions, and even though some people lack the understanding to see past the stigmas, give them time, Theyll see eventually, stigmas can be passed over, people can learn acceptance, im sure of that no matter how impossible it might seem.

Notice the beauty
We pass over things too much. Stop! calm down, run with the world instead of running against it. Do you notice the birdsong outside your window in a morning or do you wish it would shut up? Listen to it, hear the replies from its bird family and friends up in the trees :) smile at the beauty of it. Have you ever sat and turned off every single electrical appliance in your house and listened to the rain patter against the window? Or even better, have you ever walked outside and danced in it getting drenched all the while? Have you ever sung a song so loud your lungs could burst and felt the emotion behind every note? Have you ever painted, and considered the beauty of the colours and so therefore the wonder and beauty of vision? Do you give a child a teddy or a toy to make them be quiet, when what you should be doing is getting down to their level and playing with them, and revelling in the light from their eyes and the euphoria in their smile? Next time it snows, step out without a jacket, feel the cold bite at you, let the white dominate your vision, dont search for the colours underneath, just enjoy the white, and hear the silence, the peaceful silence that comes with snow, and appreciate the cold knowing youll be warm again.

Theres good in the bad:
How do we know when we are hungry? Because we know what it feels like to be full. The same applies to how do we know that we are sad? because we know what it feels like to be happy. The expression, its better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all is very true- would you not rather be sad, knowing that you had been happy, than to have never been happy? And heres more beauty in that- theres always ways back, you can always find happiness again in something.

One last thought *Rainbows*
You might look outside and groan to see the rain. you might see it as a parrallel to youre own life, situations and predicament. But think of this, if there is sunshine behind the raindrops, we get a rainbow, and rainbows are beautiful. So if its raining in your life, take the people close to you who you know will help, they can be your rays of sunshine, and then keep an eye out, a rainbow will come soon after.

Keep smiling lovelys, theres always reasons to :D

The Wizard Of Oz

The Wizard of Oz
I saw the Wizard of Oz when I was staying overnight at my grandmas, and had never seen a movie in black and white before, i found it rather odd and was relieved when it changed and became colourful. I loved the film and still do, but the older i get the more it dawns on me that Dorothy in her glittering ruby slippers is in fact a little bit silly.

A question for Dorothy....
Why on earth if you dream of over the rainbow for so long and actually get it, and have the luck of entering the colourful emerald city, would you click your tiny slippers and fly back to black and white Kansas?

?????
Had that been me, i would have had the fantastic Wizard to magic my family out of Kansas and into Oz so I brought them out of the dreary Kansas and still had the delights of them living with me in colourful Oz. I think the film demonstrates well the human ability to always want more, yet never be truly satisfied even if we get it. Take the main characters of the film for example:

The Tinman
Nice enough though he is, the Tinman wants a heart. This seems like a pointless excersize as he is "alive" yet has no organs or blood whcih need a heart to make work, and he is capable with loving without a heart anyway.

The Scarecrow.
Scarecrow wants a brain. However agin this seems to make little sense as scarecrow can walk and talk and has intellegence and he has no organs and so nothing for the brain to control.

The Cowardly Lion
The cowardly lion wants courage. But since when has being scared of things been a bad thing anyway? On the contrary its smart, its a survival technique and fear means we are aware of our surroundings.

Dorothy
Ends up not wanting over the rainbow afterall.

Big question...
Are we as a human race, so dissatisfied with what we are given in life? And do we always want the materialistic things?

A big answer...
As a society we have become far more materialistic. Standard of people now very rarely comes from how good and true a person they are but rather how much money they earn, what they have to their name and which designer label they are in. We revel in ownership, we live in money. We forget that we came into the world with nothing, and we will leave it the same, so all in between is a bonus. Food, water, shelter- most important and some people dont even get that. I know im a hypocrite typing all of this from under my duvet with my laptop, but its true. The American Dream (that any person can be aspire to be more, and have more) more often than not ends up in a lifetimes supply of disappointment.

Keep Smiling sweeties :)

Rant On Exams

I try to be optimistic, but desperate needs call for desperate measures.

The Stupidity Of Exams.
Here is the huge major flaw with exams which may be overlooked when exams are being marked. You could be doing amazingly well all year, getting straight As and revising like crazy, then all it takes is a bad day on the day of your exam, and thats an entire year of a course flown out of the window for a case of 50 marks. Sure you can go for special consideration if youve been ill or had something really traumatic going on that could affect your concentration, but heres the deal- what if you havent had something really traumatic, what if you just happened to wake up and find its one of those days? You cant get special consideration for it being one of those days or else everyone would be doing it, so youre left with a failed exam, looking through all your previous essays in which you got A grades. Heres the second flaw, anyone with some understanding of how stress affects us and how memory works should know that under stress (caused by exams for mot people) the working memory shuts down because in the fight or flight response (SAM acute stress) the working memory isnt needed, all that is needed are the vital functions. Stress is an evolutionary response and so though some people deal with it better than others it cannot be completly erradicated, if it were we wouldnt survive. So, silly examiners when youre marking peoples exams, bear in mind that the exams that were sent out stress people out, so if they get bad grades its not necessarily that they havent been revising, it was just that their bodies didnt think theyd need the info, they were more likely to think they were fighting off a tiger or something like that.
Rant, Rant, Rant......
I could rant about exams until the cows come home. Heres an anecdote from one of my exams today:    The place in which the exam was being held was FREEZING. I was shivering through most of the exam. There were two invigilators, one male and one female. After the exam had begun and pens had been distributed ect the lady went peacefully and sat down quietly. The man thought it would be a fabulous idea, to walk along the rubber floor slowly in his rubber shoes squeaking with every step. Look over peoples shoulders at what they were writing in their papers. Move and bang the chairs at the back about which did not need moving and generally stay constantly moving and making noise and being generally the most offputting bloody man i have ever come across. Bearing in mind that in my media exam the day before, the same man placed an insanely tall lad in front of me (and im quite small) and then expected me to be able to see the board. When i told him i couldnt see he told me, in the middle of an exam, to stand up in order to watch it. How bloody ridiculous. Also, apart from one exam, all of my exams are doubled in days and it is so tiring, add that to the fact that i am already ill and this makes me most unhappy.
Rant Over
Yeah my rants over now, i was just highlighting my scorn for exams and a certain invigilator but i cant be bothered to moan anymore.

Good Luck to everyone taking exams :)
Keep Smiling :)

BIG QUESTIONS

This was ny little philosophical moment, im not entirely sure what brought it on......

Big Questions.
What makes me, me? Its such an odd question, but seriously, who am i? It occurs to me that i actually know so little about myself. My own view of me, has to spring in part, not from truth or reality but from a platonic conception of myself. Platonic conceptions are human- we create them all the time, but then that in itself begs the question, what is a human? How do we answer that? Where do questions come from? Do we question because we are human, or are we human because we question? In part, while i have an extreme interest in psychology and human behaviour and everything concerning it I will admit that at the start i chose to pursue psychology because my curious mind wanted answers and in my naieve state i expected psychology to give me those answers that i couldnt seem to get hold of, but it cant because there isnt ever an answer that is set in stone, because nothing is ever static. Its an irony that i cannot ignore, as humans the majority of us spend so much of our lives asking questions in search of answers, yet when they find the answers all it ever seems to do is generate more questions. Are we supposed to search for answers, or are we supposed to just go with it? Do answers come from religion or science? Both, though undeniably different, are also strikingly similar- 2 sides of the same coin, both are ways of making sense of the world that we live in. But then thinking of science and religion i find myself having to ask more questions. Science dictates that noting can come from nothing, something has to be there for something to come from it. But for me this isnt adequate, If God created the universe, then we would have to assume that God was already there which is illogical and not plausible as science has already dictated that something cant come from nothing so this doesnt explain how God came into existence in order to create the universe as he would have had to come from nothing. In this respect, science disproves its own theories, because even by using the big bang theory, at one point there had to have been the first ever thing in the universe, but under the notion that something cant come from nothing this too is wrong as surely the first ever fraction of the universe had to come from nothing or else there wouldnt have been a something created in the first place.

Smile :)

Smiling
So, smiling is infectious, yes it is.
I Love that thought, yes smiling is infectious. Its wonderful to think that something so simple, something that is so innately ready, can be passed around hundreds of people.

The Science
Smiling is what is classed as a social releaser. Bowlby suggested that these social releasers (which also include crying and the "baby-face"- Big eyes, small nose and big forehead) are used in order so that a child can form attachments and they are innate and evolutionary and persist and survive because of its adaptiveness. So that's the science behind it and science is great and wonderful, but what we miss while looking for science and explanation is the beauty of it.

The Beauty
And now here is the beauty of smiles. Heres the deal- the worlds in a pretty bad state at the minute, recession is everywhere, poverty grips the place, violence, war, mindless killings, racism, child abuse, religious extremists. It's all a bit mad. But when you walk down the street, look people in the eye. Don't look around them or through them, actually look at them, and smile, I garuntee that despite the problems we all have right now, the majority will smile right back at you. And there's nothing in it, it doesn't cost you any money! It takes more muscles for you to frown than it does for you to smile :) and that's reason enough to smile in itself! Smiles can heal the world, one person at a time.

There's always something..
In a world where it seems like there isn't any hope, we have to remember that there is always something. There's always people who will help, people who will give you a hug, a helping hand, a smile. It's easy to believe, given the media hype on this type of story, that things in the whole world are awful and we should't trust anybody because of heightened knife crimes and such things, but its not true. All around us are wonderful, fabulous people. We are all strong and couragous, we are all perfect imperfections, but we aren't all bad, the vast majority of us are good, it's just that good doesn't attract media attention. Someone is always there to help you if you need it, all you have to do is ask. The world is never devoid of hope, because humans can never be devoid of hope- its a survival technique for humans.

One last thought.
And with that, I will leave you with one last thought. It's something I was taught by my psychology teacher. When life goes bad, do we sit there and wallow forever? Or do we stand up, brush off and carry on straight toward the next chapter? Giving up is not an option, we all signed up for this when we were born and our contracts haven't ended yet. So smile, some days are good, some are bad, sure most days are probably bad- the 7 truths of life (your toast will probably land butter side down :P) But then bad days don't (usually) cause muscle paralysis so ergo, you can still SMILE :)

Keep Smiling :)

Signs Of The Zodiac :)

I have to admit, at first i thought it was a sham. I didnt think it was possible to be ruled by stars and such, but after looking more into it, the evidence may just be too big to ignore.

Im a leo :) Lions.
apparently my personality traits are as follows-
-Mostly generous and helpful by nature, though can be self indulgent at times.
-Optomistic most of the time, though can be moody :P
-Often sulk in response to minor slights, especially those that harm their pride, but usually recover quickly.
-Many look a bit like lions, with smooth cheekbones, large faces, thick wavy hair and catlike eyes.
-Leo tends to be an attractive sign, with the only flaw being a tendency to put on excess weight due to overindulgence.
-Idea of fame and stardom particularly appeals.
-Confident sunny leo often ensures popularity- they love to talk and gain attention, the leo confidence more often manifests itself as charisma :)
-They are assertive enough to get what they want out of life, and most are sufficiently capable to achieve much of what they set their minds to. Although they can be lazy around the house, Leos are hardworking and driven when something interests them.
-Leos are very passionate and sensual. In love, they are romantic. They are also ferociously protective of friends, lovers and family, and most are willing to die for what they believe in.
- because they are highly reactive and emotionally intense, Leos often speak or act impulsively in emotionally charged situations and live to regret it later on.
-They represent the brighter side of life - a life full of action and colors! Their element is fire that makes them as aggressively energetic as a lion is.

Sure, im most of those things, im also the bad traits, the stubborness, a need i think for appreciation and admiration at some times though i am very capable of being independent and working for my self. Interestingly, I was born in the chinease year of the dog (1994):-

-deep sense of loyalty, honest and inspire other peoples confidence.
-sometimes selfish, stubborn and eccentric.
-Giving and compassionate personality.
-Very attentive sometimes knowing more about friends than friends know about them or indeed themselves.
-In private they may worry a lot.
-honest and thrustworthy- ethically strong and morally kept.
- Dogs dislike getting angry or aggressive, hurting others feelings or being treated unfairly.

Specifically speaking i am a wood dog (1994)
-well rounded individuals
-flexiable and laid back however not AS independent as some of the other dogs- they need to be part of a group, it makes them feel secure and self confident- in return they are faithful friend, shy at first and then warm and affectionate.

And bringing it all together.......Leoine Dogs-
Large but sensitive egos, if you hurt them youll know it! Genuine, loving and affectionate friends :)

All of thee traits fit me well so i wonder if it really is a sham as i first thought, or whether it actually holds ground, i must admit whenever i read m daily horoscope i can see comparisons between whats happening in my real life and whats on the page..........

Keep Smiling :)
