Schindlers List

Schindlers List
For those who havent seen this film, it is revolved around the holocaust. Its completely black and white apart from one little girls red coat, this becomes prominent later as we see the red coat amongst dead bodies. Oscar Schindler is a member of the Nazi party, yet he saves thousands and thousands of Jews lives by bringing them from concentration camps to work at his factory, where he will not permit any soldier to kill them, nor will he treat them badly himself. He loses all of his money helping these people, and yet still believes he should have done more.

Why am i mentioning this?
Im mentioning this because again, I'm looking at human nature. We can sit and look at the holocaust and (rightly so) think that these people who ran the camps, and Hitler, had no compassion, no hearts and were totally and utterly out of their minds. There is never any reason or exscuse to kill one person, so 6 million is a monstrosity. This shows human natures bad side, Hitlers guards and soldiers who followed his commands, were probably doing so out of fear and conformity, and also they had been taught to hate, not that i condone their actions at all, their actions were unforgiveable and i even find it realy hard to understand why, i dont think anyone could ever really understand why. But at the same time, you had people like Oscar Schindler. People who gave up everything and risked their lives, to fight agaisnt such awful injustice. And this to me, shows a wonderful side to human behaviour and nature, how anyone can be so selfless and fight against the common ideologies of the time in order to follow conscience and help people, and still not believe he had done enough. This is beautiful, if everyone in life could try at least to even have a fraction of Oscar Schindlers compassion towards people, im fairly sure the world would be in a much happier and nicer state than it is now. I guess in a way, i like the marxist ways of living life. Everything completely equal and everyone helping everyone else. (though i think the freedom of speech would be infringed and this too wouldnt be good) but if no-one was at the top, we couldnt have dictators like Hitler. Though i also realise that it is in human nature, to want to better ourselves, to want to be at the top, and when this overrides the need to help others along the way, thats when the disasters happen. We cant life completely self centerdly. though im aware that nobody can be truly completely altruistic, we need to show some altruism, and Oscar Schindler showed this against all odds, and i take hope from that.

Keep smiling :)
Love, Tutti-Frutti
